Dear Friends,
My name is Somayaji Bulusu. I am writing this note on behalf of my brother, Chandrasekhar Bulusu (27 years), and our need as a family for financial help.
Chandrasekhar was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukamia (CML) two years ago. After several medical tests and consultations with doctors in India, it was recommended that BMT was the only option for treating this illness. Back home in India, only sibling-matched BMTs are performed. Unfortunately, none of our family members matched my brothers’ HLA typing. Based on the doctor's recommendations, he was brought over to the United States to try and get non-sibling matches.
Dr. Feroze Momin, a BMT specialist at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn,Michigan, was contacted for a second opinion.
Dr. Momin concurred with the BMT approach and performed a donor search using the National Manor Donor Program (NMDP) database. Preliminary results of this search were very encouraging indicating 200+ potentialdonor matches. The doctors are preparing to carry out the BMT process for Chandra Sekhar at the University of Michigan Cancer Center. The doctors were kind enough to offer to perform the procedure with nominal fee, but the hospital expenses have to be paid by us. The initialestimate for these expenses came to $250,000 dollars.
In order to raise funds and also provide an audit trial, we have established a charity fund on Chandrasekhar's name with a non-profit organization,My Friends Care. My Friends Care is a voluntary organization established to help raise money to assist individulas who are in need of a bone marrow transplant. My Friends Care will donate the proceeds to the Hospital directly. My family and I will be grateful for any financial helpin saving Chandrasekhar’s life.
We hope you'll find it in your heart to make a contribution, andto share this letter with those you know. All contributions are fully tax deductible to the extent of current law. Contributions should be made out to:

Mr. Chandrasekhar Bulusu is a 27 year old gentleman from India whois
suffering from Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) since the past 3 years. He was
initially treated in India and has recently come to Detroit to evaluatefurther
treatment options including the possibility of a Bone Marrow Transplant.
Chandra was evaluated by me at Oakwood Hospital Blood and Marrow Stem Cell
Transplant Program last week. I have referred him to Dr. Voravit Ratanatharathorn,
Professor of Medicine at University of Michigan Hospital for a Bone Marrow
Transplant from a matched unrelated donor. This had to bedone as none of Chandra's
siblings are a match for him. Bone Marrow Transplantation offers Chandra a very good
chance for a cure of his leukemia. However the procedure iscomplex, lengthy and expensive.
Chandra's brother Mr. Soma Bulusu is an Information Technology professional working
for CBSI in Farmington Hills, MI. He has sponsored Chandra'strip to the USA. Soma and
his entire Bulusu family are trying hard to raise funds to offsetsome of the costs of the
treatment. I am writing this letter as an appeal to the community to help the Bulusu family
in their effort to help Chandra overcome his cancer and give him a chance to reestablishing his
life again. Chandra is a young and talented computer professional and has a very bright and
productive future once his CML is cured.
